You wire up some infrared tubes, flip the switch, and just&amp;hellip; hope for the best. You pray the temperature stays steady across the whole conveyor. It&amp;rsquo;s a &amp;ldquo;set it and forget it&amp;rdquo; approach, but that&amp;rsquo;s where the trouble starts.&lt;/p&gt;&#xA;&lt;h2 id=&#34;when-your-lamps-start-talking&#34;&gt;When Your Lamps Start &amp;ldquo;Talking&amp;rdquo;&lt;/h2&gt;&#xA;&lt;p&gt;Here&amp;rsquo;s the problem: standard IR lamps are blind. They don&amp;rsquo;t tell you when they&amp;rsquo;re struggling. Usually, you only find out a tube has burned out or worn down when you see uncured paint or splotchy finishes on the parts coming off the line. That&amp;rsquo;s a nightmare.&#xA;But things are changing. We&amp;rsquo;re starting to put sensors right into the lamp housing. Now, the tube can actually &amp;ldquo;talk&amp;rdquo; to the PLC. It sends a constant stream of info on current draw and surface temperature.&#xA;No more guesswork. You don&amp;rsquo;t have to send a technician walking the line with a handheld pyrometer, sweating and hoping they catch the problem. The system just flags exactly which lamp is acting up.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
